Illinois

Contractors are licensed and regulated in Illinois by the Illinois Emergency Management Agency and Office of Homeland Security (IEMA-OHS).

The first step in applying for a Professional or Technician License is to complete an IEMA-OHS approved Qualification Course:

The next step is to apply for and pass an Illinois approved license / qualification exam administered by NRPP or NRSB:

  • National Radon Proficiency Program (NRPP)
  • National Radon Safety Board (NRSB)

The IEMA-OHS Radon License Application process is completed on the IEMA-OHS Radon Licensing Portal.

Licensees are required to develop and implement written policies and procedures that are in compliance with Radon Industry Licensing Act and 32 Illinois Administrative Code 422.

IEMA-OHS offers a sample in the IEMA-OHS Quality Assurance Guidance Document.

Tracking and reporting exposure to radon is required as part of the Worker Protection Program.

Protect your business, clients, and employees with radon contractor insurance.
